Experimentations

Paris, 24 February – 4 March

Christie’s presents Experimentations, a private-selling exhibition of glass designs by François Azambourg. Visit our Paris galleries from 24 February – 4 March for an exclusive look at the designer’s creative process, from concept drawings to final works.

For more than 13 years, Azambourg has been in dialogue with the International Glass Art Centre in Meisenthal, France for his artistic investigations into the physical properties and limitations of glass. The Douglas vase became his first creation as a result of this dynamic partnership, using the unusual process of blowing molten glass between two raw planks of Douglas pine to get the unique imprints of the wood onto the glass surface. This method continues to inform his later designs, taking inspiration from nature.

Experimentations brings together Azambourg’s plans and sketches, iconic works including L’Intouchable, and his latest creation, the Brindille vase. Hosted in collaboration with THE ART DESIGN LAB, all works on display are available for purchase, with prices ranging from €100–6,000.
