Circa 1820, the dishes with impressed numerals, one shell dish with imitation NANTGARW mark in red
Each piece painted with a specimen bird, named in red script on the reverse, in wooded river landscape vignettes, with mountains in the distance, within an elaborate gilt border of diaper-pattern, paterae and gilt C-scrolls within shaped gilt-line rims, comprising:
A circular footed centre-dish on a foliage-moulded tripod stem and circular foot, with un-named birds (gilding rubbed)
Two square dishes with The Fieldfare. and The Throstle.
(both with slight rubbing to gilding, the second with some staining to glaze)
A quatrefoil dish with The Yellow Wagtail. (extensively restored)
Three shell-shaped dishes with The Ring Dotterel., The Golden Plover., The Dotterel.,
Sixteen plates, with The Red-backed Shrike. (slight crazing to glaze, minute crack to centre, slight rubbing to rim); The Ash-coloured Shrike., (very slight crazing to glaze);The Bunting., (slight crazing to glaze);The Greater Titmouse., The Water Ouzle., (crazed); The Jay., (small crack to centre, slight crazing);The Rook.,(slight crazing);The Raven (slight rubbing to gilt border);The Green Woodpecker., (minute chip to footrim); The Starling., (some crazing to glaze);The Hooded Crow., (some rubbing to gilding);The March Penn., (crack to centre); The Jack-daw., (crack to centre, some crazing);The Flycatcher., (two star-cracks to centre);The Green Grosbeak.,(crack to centre, slightly crazed); The Cuckoo., (cracked across and repaired)

This service was most probably the work of an independent decorator, and although one piece is inscribed NANTGARW, on the evidence of paste and glaze such an attribution is not possible. A service of similar form, then attributed to Coalport, was sold in these Rooms, 6 December 1976.
