The enamel dial with cartouche signed 'CLOUZIER A PARIS' below, the three train movement with verge escapement and silk suspension, countwheel strike to hour ball and countwheel strike to two quarter bells, the backplate signed 'Clouzier A Paris' the tapering pedestal with door, the rear of the clock door with ivory banding
The clock: 43 in. (109.2 cm.) high; 21 in. (53.3 cm.) wide; 10 ¼ in. (26 cm.) deep

Probably acquired in Paris by Simon Harcourt (1714-1777), whilst Ambassador to Paris 1768-1772, thence by family descent.

All items which include CITES materials are subject to country-specific import and export laws and it is the reasonability of the purchaser to check these restrictions before purchasing.

France currently has restrictions on the sale and commercial movement of all elephant ivory items, including pre-1947 “antique” elephant ivory items. Christie’s is unable to arrange shipments of any elephant ivory lots to France until further guidance is issued by the French authorities.
