4 volumes, 8° (239 x 149mm.), engraved frontispiece portrait of Ariosto by Fiquet after Eisen, 46 plates by Bartolozzi, de Longeuil, de Ghendt and others after Cipriani, Moreau le jeune, Eisen, Cochin, Monnet and Griuze (occasional light spotting or browning, upper corner of front blank in vol. I excised), contemporary red morocco gilt, blue watered silk liners and doublures, spines ruled and lettered in gilt, gilt edges (spines lightly sunfaded, lightly rubbed).

An attractive set with all the cancellans required. "Pietro Molini, the publisher, claimed the patronage of the 'lettered' for this edition of Ariosto's poem on the ground of the correctness of its text, the diligence of its printer (the 'notissimo Giovanni Baskerville'), and the collaboration of 'the most celebrated artists of London and Paris'" (Ray).
