徐悲鴻 邵可侶畫像 鉛筆紙版 鏡框 一九三一年作

邵可侶 (Jacques Reclus 1894-1984) 先生為出生於巴黎的法國 人，是著名地理學家艾裏塞·邵可侶 (Elisée Reclus,1830-1905) 的侄孫，家族多為知識分子或革命先鋒。因種種的機遇，可侶先生於1926-28年間到了上海勞動大學任教，1930年到 昆明在中法大學執教，及後曾在北京大學、中法大學等任教多年，桃李滿門。是一位在中國頗有名氣的教授。於1942年生活尊報 (The Life Guardian Weekly) 的專欄曾對邵氏作這樣的 介紹：“‘可侶’二字在他身上是再適當不過的。因為無論那一種人與他相處，都感到他和藹可親，怹的一口道地的中國國語，都能把每個字的聲調讀得正確，而且每句話的抑揚頓挫都配合得極為適宜。……他在中國已經十六年了，在所有著名的大學都會教過書，他的生徒遍全中國。”
居住多年，中國彷如邵氏的第二故鄉。他於1939年迎娶了一名中國女子黃淑懿為妻。他熱情，和藹可親的性格亦結交了不少好友，亦與不少畫家結緣。編號 (693－698) 為邵氏與 畫家們情誼的最佳佐證。編號693為徐悲鴻畫予邵氏的素描畫像，據邵氏女兒Magali Reclus 所述，徐氏曾於邵家借住過 一小段時間，邵氏亦是悲鴻與蔣碧薇的女兒徐麗麗的乾爹。而徐氏在那素描中亦稱邵為‘我親愛的朋友’，可見二人情誼深厚。此素描用筆流暢，構圖巧妙，邵氏的形神描繪得細緻精巧。
編號694-695為齊白石為邵氏所畫的佳品，齊白石曾於1939年 托當時任國立西南聯合大學校長的梅貽琦 (1889-1962年) 校長把一封信件轉交邵氏。梅貽琦為當時邵可侶與黃淑懿婚禮之主婚人，相信是恭賀邵氏黃氏結婚之畫作，唯現在不知其散落何處，只剩當時信封一只。此外1948年徐悲鴻為吳作人蕭淑芳夫婦證婚的婚禮亦邵氏也是坐上客。編號696-698為吳氏夫婦二人贈與邵氏之畫作，題材活潑生動， 清新可人，印證著他們的情誼。

Collection of Mr. Jacques Reclus
Jacques Reclus (1894-1984) was born in Paris, France. He came from a long line of intellectuals and revolutionaries and was a descendent of renowned geographer Elisee Reclus (1830-1905). The young Reclus travelled to China in the 1920s and took up teaching positions at universities in Beijing, Kunming, and Shanghai, including Peking University. The Life Guardian Weekly once used "ke lui", the very same characters in his Chinese name, to praise Reclus' personality and achievement. It honoured Reclus as someone with great kindness and eloquence in the Chinese language. His contribution as an educator was also widely recognized.
Reclus married Huang Shuyi in 1939 after residing in China for many years. His amicability won him friendships with many artists, as seen in a series of paintings dedicated by the artists to Reclus (lots 693 to 698). According to Reclu's daughter Magali Reclus, artist Xu Beihong stayed with the Reclus family briefly and the two families remained in close contact. Lot 693 is a portrait Xu dedicated to Reclus in which his image was vividly portrayed through a brilliant composition.
Lots 694 and 695 are paintings dedicated to Reclus by artist Qi Baishi. In 1939, Qi gave a letter to the newly-wedded Reclus through Mei Yiqi (1889-1962). Mei, then Chancellor of Tsinghua University, was the witness at the Reclus wedding. It was believed that the letter contained a painting by Qi as a gift to the couple; unfortunately the work was lost and only the envelope remained. In 1948, Reclus was a guest at the wedding of Wu Zhuoren and Xiao Shufang, where Xu Beihong seved as the witness. Wu later dedicated a number of fresh and lively paintings to Reclus as a token of their friendship (lots 696 to 698).
