Founded in 1912 by Lucien Vogel, La Gazette du Bon Ton was a leading French fashion magazine published from November 1912 to 1925. The publication commissioned work from many of the most eminent Art Deco artists and illustrators of the day including Erté (Romain de Tirtoff), Paul Iribe, Pierre Brissaud, Georges Lepape and Georges Barbier.

Gudiashvili studied in Paris from 1919-1926. While in France he became associated with a group of Georgian poets called The Blue Horns who were interested in exploring ways in which to introduce Georgian elements within the structure of French symbolism.
