Beautifully worn to a blue-green tone, this small and elegant bottle has only delicately carved mask handles as decoration, perhaps to highlight the beauty of the stone. The preferences for different tones and types of turquoise used for snuff bottles throughout the 18th century is discussed by H. Moss, V. Graham and K.B. Tsang in, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, Vol. 3, Stones other than Jade and Quartz, 1998, p. 154, no. 423.
