For a pair of fahua faceted vases of earlier date, c. 1436-64, also decorated with flower sprays, but with elephant-head handles, see J. Harrison-Hall, Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, London, 2001, p. 410, no. 13:1 and 13:2. Also illustrated, p. 411, no. 13:3, is a vase of similar shape to the current example, but with semi-circular handles and decorated in green, yellow and aubergine glazes, where it is dated c. 1450-1505.
