Duncan McCormick is a British painter and printmaker whose work is imbued with a nostalgic reverie, evoking ‘long remembered daydreams’ of childhood. Working in a style that pays homage to Pop Art, his compositions are defined by their optimism, distilled forms, and vivid, heightened colour. Drawing inspiration from childhood holidays on the English coast, McCormick transforms these memories into radiant visions reminiscent of Florida or California, while his depictions of Scotland’s snow-capped mountains take on an Alpine splendour. Pink Sky with Skater exemplifies McCormick’s distinctive aesthetic, its neon hues and simplified forms conjuring a dreamlike landscape, where a solitary skater glides serenely across the ice.
Today, McCormick’s work is held in significant private and corporate collections. In 2018, Morgan Stanley commissioned eleven paintings for their offices in Canary Wharf, while in 2023, the Pérez Art Museum, Miami, acquired two of his works for their permanent collection.
